Art can transcend the physical world, illuminating a path for a spiritual journey. Classical Indian dancer Malavika Sarukkai uses her body as a vehicle for this type of metaphysical experience. Here, she performs her creation Yatra, a pilgrimage for the artist and the audience. Poetry combines with music deeply imbued with the rich Hindu heritage of India in this dynamic meditation.
“Without any doubt the most expressive of contemporary Indian dancers.”
Co-presented with Baryshnikov Arts Center. These presentations of The Spirit of the Body are made possible in part by The Fan Fox and Leslie R. Samuels Foundation, Inc.
These performances are followed by White Light Lounges.
Please note: Performances begin promptly at their scheduled times.
