Georgian choral music is the world’s oldest polyphonic tradition, with a rich history and an otherworldly sound that’s far beyond the familiar, marked by unexpected shifts in harmony and mood. The striking male voices of Ensemble Basiani, returning after an astonishing U.S. debut at Lincoln Center in 2010, demonstrate their superlative mastery of traditional a cappella Georgian folk, work, and sacred songs.
