- Ensemble Basiani
Georgian choral music is the world’s oldest polyphonic tradition, with a rich history and an otherworldly sound that’s far beyond the familiar, marked by unexpected shifts in harmony and mood. The striking male voices of Ensemble Basiani, returning after an astonishing U.S. debut at Lincoln Center in 2010, demonstrate their superlative mastery of traditional a cappella Georgian folk, work, and sacred songs.
Ensemble Basiani performed the traditional song "Gazapkhuli" ("Spring") as an encore.
“The stellar Ensemble Basiani...exquisitely rendered...hauntingly beautiful.”
This performance will be followed by a White Light Lounge.
Please note: Performances begin promptly at their scheduled times.
There is no late seating.
This performance is approximately one hour and ten minutes long, with no intermission.
